Choosing the right brand name is a vital decision for an organisation.
me&you were entrusted with the task...
me&you have a great reputation with public sector clients for innovative branding and design coupled with really helpful, cost-effective service.
In this 2019 project, The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham asked me&you design agency to name and brand their own new white label not-for-profit energy supply, providing fair rates and 100% green electricity to residents.
Our briefing for the energy supplier branding was to convey affordability, diversity, domesticity, vibrancy and of course electricity.
The naming workshop we led was a hugely enjoyable kickstart for the project - and me&you’s creative team set to work brainstorming. See the name ideas that sparked below.
Focus groups were then led by me&you to gain insight from residents on their attitudes to switching energy suppliers, as well as their opinions on the shortlisted brand names.
Working collaboratively with our clients, we next discussed the approach for the visual identity. The focus groups were fantastic material for powering our design work. Our final brand identity fits the bill perfectly. The bright colours hint at an inexpensive product. The rounded edges of the typography are friendly and accessible. In this dynamic energy supplier branding solution, waves of energy flow are represented by undulating lines within a house shape.
Our colour palette of magenta and aqua has been applied to the beamenergy.co.uk website, and brings to life a simple, clear structure.
We were really impressed that Beam Energy’s electricity is 100% renewable, because it is sourced from UK-based wind and solar generators. We look forward to working with more businesses championing eco-friendly approaches in the future.
